The Mary Little Project . . .

Because a Woman with a Hammer is Hard to Beat!

......................................

Created to give children more choices than they now have, in order to help them develop into men and women who are fully conscious of their choices and capabilities, without regard to gender or stereotypes.

MARY LITTLE is doll with her own real and useable tools. Not only are they just right for her, they fit perfectly into children’s hands. She is an accomplished carpenter, painter, welder, gardener, and seamstress, and has written several books on how to create many beautiful things.

ALMA WATERS will be the first African-American woman to run for President of the United States. She is a former teacher, who encourages children to follow their dreams, and is very concerned with the quality and direction of education, especially the elimination of the arts as tools for developing essential right and left brain coordination in all subjects.

WISTERIA LEE spends her days as a landscape architect, but her hobby is creating beautiful, little Bonsai trees, about which she is writing a small (of course) book. She also created a line of miniature tools for the tiny plants, as well as larger tools, just the right size for children’s hands. She believes you are never to young (or too old) to start a garden. She teaches pottery and makes special Bonsai pots.

JAIME QUINTO wants to be the first famous chef of Hispanic origin. He lost the use of his legs to Muscular Dystrophy and, with the help of Mary, has built an entirely handicap-accesible kitchen. He takes sewing classes from Ms. Waters and has created his own line of aprons and kitchen mits. Jaime also collects recipes and is in the process of preparing several cookbooks for children. He would like to design miniature cookware, just for kids.

These are actual dolls (most 24" tall with a few 18" and not all are pictured here) created as prototypes for a line of "toys" that would foster a healthier self image for children. Serious entities (individuals, corporations, et al.) are encouraged to contact us, but in the meantime, they are objet d'arts, complete with their own sets and accessories, as well as hefty price tags. It sometimes takes months to complete the entire personae. (see bottom of this page) For any collect, again seriously interested, we can negotiate. These children must go to good homes or stay where they are presently loved. They are truly one-of-a-kind.

Have Yourself . . .

A Mary Little Christmas!

This is a heartwarming Christmas story for kids of all ages, with no religious overtones and makes a perfect holiday greeting for someone you love, unconditionally. Mary learns the true meaning of Christmas with her Mom and turns the holiday into her own brand of gift - to herself and everyone else.

“It’s not about the candy canes.  Christmas is supposed to be the celebration of welcoming the spirit of a child into your life . . a little person whose smallest smile or hand holding your finger can change the whole, wide world . . . a child like you.”

Have Yourself a Mary Little Christmas, Savannah Blaze Lee

Little Worlds

Are Forever Unfolding in My Mind.

It would be wonderful to spend one's days doing only those things about which we are passionate. Unfortunately, most artists need to hold down the 'day job', so The Mary Little Project expands as I have free time and is constantly a work in progress. These are the first to have their 'environments completed, although most of the children already possess their own tools.

Scarlet (above) is the image of a real individual in our community and represents the right of any person to dress as they see fit and live as they please, as long as they don't force their beliefs on others. Dr. Sprokitz, on the other hand, came about because my Inner Child was appalled with my autobiography and needed a 'shrink' to get over it.

Eventually, every member of the family will have picturesque, folding, screen backdrops and furniture to complete their worlds. Short-term plans include a showing at one of the local galleries, which I'll anounce on the blog when those dates are confirmed. In the meantime, I haunt Goodwill stores and yard sales for all the ecoutrements needed to make my little people feel safe and loved.

Let a statement by the magnificent Harriet Tubman stand as reply. When asked how she managed to save hundreds of enslaved African Americans via the Underground Railroad during the Civil War, she replied bitterly, “I could have saved thousands—if only I’d been able to convince them they were slaves.”
